NOTE: We have now wrapped up CommOER, and segued all efforts into WikiProject Open! Check it out here. Please see our archived online WIKISOO class for more on learning to edit Wikipedia yourself.

Communicate OER was a collaborative effort to improve Wikipedia articles relating to open educational resources (OER). Articles include, among others: Open Educational Resources, Open education, Creative Commons, Open content, Khan Academy, Free Education, MOOC.

People interested in and knowledgeable about OER and related subjects collaboratively improved Wikipedia content, while simultaneously engaging with existing Wikipedians. Communicate OER offered instructions and advice for those just getting to know Wikipedia. It was founded in a deep respect for, and knowledge of, Wikipedia's values and policies; it was conducted in a transparent way; all participants were trained in distinguishing between advocacy and neutral, verifiable information, and advised to leave any advocacy efforts out of their work on Wikipedia content. This project was funded by a grant from the Hewlett Foundation, and ran through July 2014.
