This talk page is automatically archived by Miszabot. Any sections older than 10 days are automatically archived to User talk:J Greb/Archive Apr 2024. Sections without timestamps are not archived.

For the new article I created we need to have a discussion about how big the scope of the article is going to be. I started the article trying to mimic the Spider-Man: Brand New Day article, but recent edits by other uses are changing the article away from that. We need to establish a consensus for the scope of this article so there are no edit wars and so the article can be concise and a quality article. Please post an opinion to the article's talk page where I have further elaborated on my point of view. Thank you. Spidey104 16:35, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our non-free image criteria. Please note that we take very seriously our criteria on non-free image uploads, and users who repeatedly upload or misuse non-free images may be blocked from editing. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media Copyright Questions page. ΔT The only constant 14:14, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Um

Your comments are not very civil. Where do you think consensus on a topic like this is supposed to be developed? This relates to an ArbCom decision. --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:03, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have brought my concerns regarding your behavior here. As feedback this sort of bittyness is not good for the project. Cheers Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:31, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Breen (Star Trek)

Regarding sourcing, since when is sourcing relevant for images? Are you saying that WP:IRS applies to images? Why is this? Nightscream (talk) 20:13, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, I've reported Triangle at the Edit Warring Noticeboard. The point that Triangle acts as if we're supposed to read his mind, and know which criterion is wrong out all those on those image policy pages he links to, which is a point you yourself made to him, is noted. I pointed this out at the Noticeboard, so your participation would be appreciated, because this guy obviously is incapable of admitting that he's wrong, or that he knew he could've fixed the rationale or explained to me what was wrong with it, and refused to do so., so that he could carry on a personal grudge with me. Character set indexes

It' all clear, but I still have a doubt In Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics) page, you reverted my edits about writers and artist; The template used Comics set and title does include fields for creators who have contributed to the series. And that was what I did. What was wrong? Fma12 (talk) 01:17, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's the laundry list effect. Realistically we aren't indexing the issues, adding all the writers or pencillers for a volume begs for the issues they handled to listed.
For the writers there, I can see an argument for vol 2 through 5 since each series had a single writer. Same for the One shots - and yes, for completeness the should be there.
Same for the writers for vol 2, 3, and 5 - 1 penciller through out.
But when you start list 3+ people, is it because their individual runs are notable or because the list needs to be complete? If the runs are notable then there should be something in the article about that. Something with sources that support it as notable.

Marvel Comics images

I removed Category:Marvel comic book covers and Category:Marvel Comics covers from the category "Marvel Comics images", because all of the other subcategories there deal with images, not with covers. The category header even states that it "does not include cover art presented without titles, logos, trade dress, or copy", yet it is listed under a category that does include those images. Besides, both of these categories are already listed as subcategories of Category:Comic book covers. Why should they be listed in both places, when none of the other categories that deal with covers are listed under Category:Marvel Comics images? Fortdj33 (talk) 11:24, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK... look at the full headers of both parent an sub cats:

"This category collects images that are scans, screen captures, photos, and/or illustrations of characters and related intellectual properties for which Marvel Comics holds the copyright and/or trademark."

and

"This category collects cover images that are scans, in whole or in part, as published by Marvel Comics. This includes material either owned at the time by Marvel or licensed from other companies. This does not include cover art presented without titles, logos, trade dress, or copy."

The former includes everything we are likely to have a file/image of and that is a Marvel property/product. That includes scans of covers.
The latter is more specific to avoid cover art only getting added to the category but it still contains images that fall under the parent category.

I think I understand, thank you for clarifying. I'm not trying to cause any problems, I just want to do my part in cleaning up some of the redundancy, with the files that are part of WikiProject Comics. Let me know if there's anything more that I can do. Fortdj33 (talk) 19:13, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
